World Swim Series – Mooloolaba

At the beginning of the month was the Mooloolaba weekend which promised to be action packed swimming on both days. However, there was a cyclone off the coast prior which lead to beach closures and beach erosion. So the 2.5km Alexandra Headland beach swim to Mooloolaba beach was changed just to an across Mooloolaba beach and an extra tail on the end. However by the time we swam on the Saturday morning it was changed again to just along the beach – so from one end of it to the other. That was fine, however it was quite short. Some sets were still coming in but it was still a nice swim.

Although the pic shows the surf looking small it was very messy and had larger sets coming through. The swim ended up being just 1.3km (shorter than the planned Sunday swim called the Mooloolaba mile). Anyway I finished the swim for a total for the day of 1.3km. That means I have 42.7km to do by the end of the year. I have some more swims coming up so I do have hope in achieving it.

I did stay at the Mantra which was fantastic – love the view from my room. They were really nice too and the internal bedroom meant it was lovely and dark to sleep in.

But I did find the internal window for the bathroom a bit weird. Although potentially good for having a bath and watching TV at the same time.

Have you ever stayed in a room with an internal window?
